Meet the ChaplainMr Birkinshaw

Hi, I’m Steve Birkinshaw, the School Chaplain.

As School Chaplain it’s my privilege to help students and staff explore and develop faith in a safe, relevant and encouraging environment, and help us celebrate what it means to be a faith community with a Christian ethos.

The school’s chaplaincy offers several connection points throughout the life of the school: weekly Christian Unions for upper and lower school, monthly Eucharists (attendance is on a voluntary basis), informal counselling, a spiritually-reflective thought for the week, spiritual retreats, and a variety of special events in school and around Manchester.

You’ll see me around the school, in assemblies, in RE lessons, teaching maths, and on some school trips. I love the outdoors, football, music, travel, and good food (in no particular order).

I'm very approachable, so please say 'hi', and if I can help you in any way I will.

Year 7 'Exploring Christianity' Retreat 2012

group photo

On the weekend of Saturday 21st April, School Chaplain Rev Steve Birkinshaw, led the annual Y7 Christian Retreat to Edale, Derbyshire.

In the words of one parent:

"Our daughter had an amazing time. She was so excited beforehand that we were worried that the time away would not live up to her expectations.

On her return, she exclaimed that it was way better than she thought it would be!

Every aspect of it was great and well organised. She was not only challenged spiritually but physically too and new and developing friendships were made and strengthened."
