Malham 2006

During the year 10 curriculum pupils study Rocks and Landscapes. This includes a section on Limestone Landscapes. To enhance and develop the pupils understanding of the landforms and human uses of this environment the Geography department take all pupils to Malham in North Yorkshire. A whole day is spent on a 6.5 mile walk which takes in some well known sites such as Gordale Scar, a collapsed underwater tunnel system, Malham Tarn, a lake created by impenetrable rock, and Malham Cove, a once mighty waterfall with it's famous Limestone Pavements at the top. This year we had some good weather on two out of the three trips, and this allowed pupils to experience the whole landscape in it's glory. Below are some of the reflections of staff and pupils.
