Course Content

This is a new and exciting vocational course, aimed at those students with an interest in music production, recording studio based work and creating music with computer software such as “Cubase” and “Reason”. It is not necessary to have studied a musical instrument as neither music theory nor performing skills are assessed. The course will be delivered through a combination of classroom lessons and practical workshops in our newly built recording studio/music technology suite. The BTEC First Certificate in Music is equivalent to two GCSE passes.

Assessment

The course is 100% coursework based, delivered in three units

UNIT 1 - Planning and creating A Musical Product

UNIT 2 - Producing a Musical Recording

UNIT 3 - Exploring Computer Systems Used by Musicians
