Throughout Key Stage Three, Music is taught as a largely practical subject in small groups (around fifteen students in each class). Lessons are planned around nine set schemes of work and involve performing (instrumental and vocal work) composing and listening across a wide range of musical styles and cultures.
Students are given access to a range of music technology equipment in order to support and extend their learning. Students follow a spiral curriculum, whereby they learn a range of musical skills that are then developed as they progress through years seven, eight and nine.
Assessment by National Curriculum level takes place, on completion of each unit of work, at the end of each term.
