General Information about Instrumental Lessons

Individual and small group instrumental teaching is provided at Trinity by Manchester Music Service.  Specialist teachers visit the school on a weekly basis.

FAQ

Do we charge for lessons?

Instrumental lessons at Trinity are subsidised. Although it is not mandatory, we do ask for a small contribution of £15 per term. This works out at £45 per school year.

Do lessons take place during or after school?

The majority of lessons take place during school. Pupils will miss part of a lesson. Instrumental timetables are based on individuals/groups rotating so that they do not miss the same lesson each week. We do encourage pupils to catch up any work that may have been missed.

Does the school provide instruments?

The school has a wide variety of instruments available to loan to pupils. We can also provide information regarding rental schemes offered by local music retailers.

Do we cater for pupils wishing to take external exams?

Pupils wishing to take external examinations can do so through Trinity.  Generally, exams are taken through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Exams usually run during spring, summer and autumn.

How long do lessons last?

Generally, lessons last 20 minutes.

What are the opportunities for performing?

Pupils who reach a suitable standard have the opportunity to join any of the extra-curricular activities on offer at Trinity (see Extra-Curricular link). We perform to a very high standard at venues such as the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester Cathedral. There is also the opportunity to participate in concert tours abroad.
