Religious Education > Key Stage 4

At Trinity R.E. is a core subject and all students in Years 10 and 11 follow the Edexcel GCSE course - Syllabus A, Religious Studies. This is a modular course. consisting of two modules. Students study the first module during Year 10 and sit the GCSE exam in May or June at the end of that year. They then study the second module in Year 11 and sit that exam at the end of that year.

The Year 10 module, Unit A, is 'Religion and Life' based on a study of Christianity and Islam. The unit is divided into five sections. These are:

• Marriage and the Family

• Social Harmony

• Believing in God

• Matters of Life and Death

• Wealth and Poverty

The Year 11 module, Unit H, is 'Religion and Society' based on a study of Christianity and Islam. The unit is divided into five sections. These are

• Religion and the Environment

• Religion and Social Responsibility

• Religion: Crime and Punishment

• Religion: Peace and Conflict

• Religion: Cosmology
