Use the table below to help you study this unit.

The links on the right will take you to websites that will help.

Level 3

I know that all living things need food and that animals eat other animals.

I know some animals eat green plants which make their food.

I know microbes are important to get rid of uneaten remains.

I know animals may be different in different climates/seasons.

All About Animals

Level 4

I can name some organisms found in a habitat and describe how they are adapted to environmental conditions.

I know that the number and whereabouts of organisms is different in different habitats.

I know why there may be more organisms in some places than others and how to prove it.

Blue Planet Game

Pond Life Game

Level 5

I can classify some plant specimens into the main groups of plants.

I can identify and name organisms found in a particular habitat and describe how they are adapted to the environmental conditions, explaining how the adaptations help survival.

I can link numbers and distribution of organisms to the resources available within a habitat and begin to represent this using pyramids of numbers.

I understand the life processes for successful growth in population of an organism.

I can describe some factors that cause population size to change.

I know that green plants make food using energy from sunlight and what plants need for photosynthesis.

I know plants respire as well as photosynthesis.

I know the functions of the root, stem, leaves and flowers of plants.

Level 6

I can explain how pyramids of numbers represent feeding relationships in a habitat.

I can make the link between competition for resources with adaptation, population size and survival.

Level 7

I can construct and explain a pyramid to represent feeding relationships.

I can explain and recognise causes and effects of disease/pollution on the pyramid model.
