Use the table below to help you study this unit.
Level 3 |
I know what green plants need and can explain what happens to the plant without them. I can name and label the parts of a plant on diagrams and live plants. |
Level 4 |
I know what green plants need sunlight for. I know what the green parts of a plant are responsible for. I know how air goes in and out of plants and how water goes in. |
Level 5 |
I can identify the raw materials for photosynthesis and where they come from. I can explain how and where photosynthesis takes place. I can describe how leaf and root cells are adapted for their functions. I can describe the relationship between photosynthesis and respiration in plants. I can explain how the leaf is involved in gaseous exchange. I realise when respiration and photosynthesis occurs in plants . I know what plants need for photosynthesis and why this process occurs. I can relate the parts of plant to functions. |
Level 6 |
I can identify the raw materials and explain the energy source for photosynthesis. I can describe the source of biomass. I can describe how leaves are adapted for photosynthesis and how roots are adapted to take in water. I can represent photosynthesis as a word equation. I can distinguish between photosynthesis and respiration in plants and can explain them. I know that human and green plant respiration is aerobic. I can describe the function of chloroplasts/ vacuole/cell wall. I can explain why plants have transport vessels and describe why materials are constantly moving inside these vessels. I know what the products of photosynthesis are used for by the plant. |
Level 7 |
I know the plant cell structure and structure of leaf, including stomata and can label them on diagrams. I can represent photosynthesis as a symbol equation. I can explain the function of palisade, mesophyll and guard cells. I can explain the chemical changes involved in respiration and photosynthesis. |
