The Narrowest Of Defeats

What a performance by our Y8 boys’ basketball team earlier this week as they took on tough opponents St Matthew’s RC High School in a regional round of the National Knock-Out Competition.

The boys have improved dramatically since Y7 and matched their athletic and skilful Moston opponents point for point. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Clawing their way back in the dying seconds, Trinity just lost out 32-31 in a real thriller.

More Sporting Highlights

Y7 and Y8 girls’ football:
Won all four matches in a tournament held at Whalley Range H.S. Cara Houghton and Danielle Smith scored hat tricks and Geraldine Achieng hit a real screamer into the top corner.

Y10 netball:
Defeated Abraham Moss and Wright Robinson, but lost out to Parrswood and St Peter’s.

Y7 boys’ football:

A scintillating 5-3 winners against the ‘Creative Academy’ school in the Manchester Cup. Great performances from Ilias Harameyn and Romario Murdock-Stimpson.

Our Y10 and Y11 teams defeated Loreto High 6-3 and 11-2 respectively.

Boys’ badminton:
Camunelle Fletchman and Peter Bell won their individual tournaments and now progress to the city wide tournament later this month.

Ash Wednesday Eucharist

“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit,
returned from Jordan and was
led by the Spirit into the desert,
where for forty days he was
tempted by the devil.”

Creative Writing

A large number of Trinity young writers have had their short stories included in an anthology entitled “Mini Sagas”. Submissions had to have “excitement, adventure, interesting characters, a gripping plot, squeezed into fifty words”. During the next few weeks we will feature a number of stories from Trinity students.

Today, ‘Silent Love’ by Leonne Bryan:

“Kimberley turned to Tyler and looked deep into his eyes. ‘I love you, do you know that?’ There was no reply. She sighed, snuggled up in her duvet, switched on the TV and laid down next to him. She said, ‘Sometimes I forget you’re just a little teddy bear."

Short Messages

From Head of Science, Mr Johnson:

“By now your child should have shown you their mid-term check for this term. This is an ideal opportunity for you to discuss their progress across the subject areas. Please sign and return the reply slip to your child's form tutor to show you have received this report.

GCSE Science results for the January examinations will be handed out to all students in Years 10 and 11 on Friday, 12th March.  For most students, this represents 33% of the marks for this years GCSE course.”

School Play Reminder

Tickets for this years production, ‘Oliver Twist’, to be performed on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th March, are available from Student Services or by contacting the main office.

Ms Fidler’s Baby!

Weighing in on Sunday, 28th February, at 8lb, Gracie. Mother and baby are fine

And Finally…

... Spring, we hope, is now with us, and the snow, sleet and heartbreaking decision to temporarily close the school are now in the distant past. Evidence can be seen in the beautiful carpet of crocuses keeping the fish company in the quadrangle.
