Admissions to the school are the responsibility of the Governors. The Admissions Panel, comprising three of their number and the Head, acts on their behalf. 240 students may be admitted each year.

The agreement between the Governors and the Authority concerning admissions lays down the procedures to be followed.

  1. Of the 240 admitted each year:

    First priority will be given to looked after children who meet the faith criteria and statemented children where the school is named in the statement.

    1. 130 shall be children who are, or whose parents or guardians are, in regular attendance of an Anglican Church;
    2. 70 shall be children who are, or whose parents or guardians are, in regular attendance at a church of another Christian denomination, being any church in membership of or sharing the statement of belief of Churches Together in England;
    3. 40 shall be children who are, and/or whose parents or guardians are, members of other faiths and in regular attendance at a place of worship within the faith tradition;

  1. For categories (a), (b) and (c) a reference completed and signed by an authorised religious leader is required.

  2. If there are insufficient applications that fulfil the criteria for a particular category, the Panel shall have discretion to fill those places with applicants who meet the faith criteria from other oversubscribed categories.
  3. If any of the categories (a) to (c) are oversubscribed, the Panel shall prioritise the applications within each category in accordance with the following criteria, in this order:
    1. those whose applications have been received by the closing date;
    2. exceptional social and/or medical reasons in support of an application for a place in categories (a) to (c) (documentary evidence will be required);
    3. the degree of commitment to a particular denomination or faith demonstrated by the family. Frequency of worship within the faith tradition, the number of years this has been sustained will be taken into account (see section 2);
